Accountable Health Partners recently announced that the network’s inaugural gain-sharing contracts with area payers are set to commence.
Approved by the AHP Board at its meeting on April 22, the contracts with Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and MVP Health Care are retroactive to January 1, 2014.
According to AHP, these new gain-sharing contracts were negotiated to deliver immediate value to participating primary care providers. AHP will soon be announcing how it plans to distribute this additional compensation.  Developed with guidance from the network’s PCP Advisory Committee and Board, the plan will include upfront compensation to support physicians in their efforts to manage patients, as well as incentives to reward outstanding clinical performance.  Data sharing and validation are key components of the clinical integration necessary for contract success, so physicians can expect additional incentives related to these activities.
“Under these contracts, performing successfully to cost metrics (while also hitting quality goals) will trigger opportunities for gain sharing.  The role of participating specialists in providing high quality care efficiently is important, and AHP is committed to identifying ways to deliver value back to the network’s specialists for their contributions to our success,” said Bob McCann, MD, CEO of AHP.
Participating PCPs and pediatricians will be contacted soon and asked to participate in a webinar during which they will receive additional details about the contracts and learn more about the data-sharing and validation requirements.  Any questions prior to the webinar can be directed to AHP Physician Relations at 585-758-7823 or info@ahpnetwork.com.
