Thompson Health recently began using the services of the Edward G.
Miner Library at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Librarians and staff members are available to:

  • Answer your questions
  • Perform searches of the literature
  • Help you learn how to use electronic resources (such as PubMed or MedlinePlus) or mobile apps
  • Provide reliable patient information
  • Deliver articles to you electronically
  • Send books from Miner Library’s collection to you via the US Postal Service
Many of these services are available through an “Ask a Librarian” link on the Thompson Health Intranet page or you may call the library at 585-275-2487 or email Miner_Information@urmc.rochester.edu. Miner librarians are available Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm

Please note: you will not have direct access to Miner’s licensed resources, but the library will be able to get you copies of journal articles through the interlibrary loan service.

 Strategic Planning Under Way

The strategic planning process continues within Thompson Health, with six members of the medical staff joining members of Thompson’s executive team and board of directors in assessing the community’s needs, the current reputation and position of Thompson, the affiliation with the UR Medicine, and the desired future for Thompson.
In addition to Medical Staff President Dr. John McGuire, Vice President Dr. Robert Meyer, and Secretary/Treasurer Dr. Vijay Bansal, these subcommittee members include Chief of Anesthesiology Dr. Nancy Brown, Dr. Paul Levy, chairman of the Department of Medicine for UR Medicine, and Dr. James Fennelly of Naples Valley Family Practice.
This spring, the subcommittee held a full-day retreat with other members of the Board, management and medical staff. The preliminary SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis was reviewed at the April 29 Quarterly General Staff Meeting. Additional sessions to solicit physician input were held June 25.
The subcommittee is now developing a strategic plan document which synthesizes the results of the planning process (including the discussions from the retreat) and delineates strategic priorities for the future.
Thompson Health President/CEO Michael F. Stapleton Jr. said key stakeholder groups will have an opportunity to review and comment on the draft strategic plan document before it is finalized.
