Thompson Welcomes Rural Medical Students

 Thompson Health is in its 19th year of participating in the Rural Medical Education Program operated by the Department of Family Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University and with the assistance of grant monies has sponsored two third-year medical students, who became fourth-year students as of July 1.

Dr. Robert Ostrander of Valley View Family Practice is serving as Kelcie Sprentall’s primary preceptor for 10 months and Dr. Jeffrey Long of Naples Valley Family Practice served as Sarah Evans’ primary preceptor for five. Clinical rotations include surgery, surgery subspecialties and emergency medicine, with Sprentall also doing a radiology rotation.
